Sea of Ruin Campaign

Shadowdark

Entry III

Year 342DR, 14th Day of Grimvold, The Onset of Winter

While recovering from the Scarlock Hill adventure, the party figured that more of Red Rubric remains and relics must lie at Craghollow Mine, which they now owned by possession of the deed.  Maybe there would be more explanation of the strange abyssal scroll.

As the party made preparations for exploring the Craghollow Mine they were approached by an agent, unseen in the deep robes they wore, and a half-dozen orc enforcers.  He wanted to buy the abyssal scroll and short of that he wanted to buy information about how they found the scrolls and any other clues they had.  Gold and information were exchanged but the party held on the scroll.  The agent offered to send two of his orcs along on their next expedition, wherever that might be.  the party declined that offer.

The agent didn't know about the Craghollow Mine at the time of the meeting but by asking around and noticing they hired a guide and having the orcs tail the party at a distance, they soon figured out that Craghollow Mine was the party's destination.  Plus the agent has some knowledge of the Red Rubric cult anyway.

The party completes the two day trek to the mine and explore the old abandoned mine camp outside the mine entrance.  Animal and creature skeletons are hung up as warning to stay away and the bones and skulls show evidence of a bluish tinge on the bones and signs of brain surgery via holes in the skull.

Entry II

Year 342DR, 4th Day of Grimvold, The Onset of Winter

We set the Sword Brethren to work on the trading outpost.  Tents and stick shelters will soon be a longhouse using one of boats and provide shelter and warmth in the cold season.

The adventurers set off for Scarlock hill after a good reception by the neighboring town of Swallowfield.  The locals filled your heads with tales of the old hero-kings and a Knight asked you to retrieve the thrice-barbed spear of Hero King Grodek up on Scarlock Hill.  The locals told you about an episode 100 years ago when the townsfolks burned out a band of Braal worshipping cultists who had moved in to Grodek's barrow atop Scarlock Hill.

Delving in the party fought the corrupted ghost of Grodek, seized the spear point.  Looting the altar of the defunct Red Rubric cultists (the Braal worshippers) the party found a curious scroll of unknown power bearing only the Abyssal rune for "Rho".  And the party also found a deed to the Craghollow Mine amidst the Red Rubric papers.

Entry I

Year 342 DR, 1st Day of Grimvold, The Onset of Winter

The past two weeks have been busy for the adventurers.  Jarls Haruuld and Signe have agreed to sponsor a Trading Outpost on the Lonely Coast.  The party has been offered the lead on the mission to establish and help protect the outpost.  The Jarls have agreed to outfit three longboats, one for the party, one for the DrakeSlayer Cult, and one with trade goods, animals, and building tools.  The Jarls want the revenue from the trade goods they export to the outpost but your trading company can keep the revunue from the goods they discover or produce and sell and for any services they provide.

The Lonely Shores are four days sailing to the east.  In past years The Lonely Shores were sparsely settled by men offers to accept Trading Outpost were put out the Duke of Ashlar, the far-off ruler of The Lonely Shores.
